With the United States government declaring a state of emergency due to the coronavirus pandemic, DRB Capital has shifted to working from home to protect our employees and practice social distancing. Although the first few days might sound like fun, working remotely is more challenging than one might expect. It can be harder to focus in a new environment where distractions are just a few feet away. Luckily, there are ways to avoid going stir-crazy and to get tasks accomplished.

COMMUNICATION

Clear communication is the first step to SUCCESS. It is essential to have clear communication with your boss and team from day to day. At the office, we are in close proximity and communication is effortless, but working from home can feel unstructured and isolating, which in turn can lead to a lack of productivity.

There are plenty of virtual options to make communication feel almost as if you were face-to-face. Check out Skype, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Facetime, etc.

ESTABLISH A ROUTINE

When we go to work Monday-Friday from 9 to 5, we are following a structured routine. When working from home, it is easy to forget that routine. Some tips for maintaining a structured routine are:

• Set an alarm an hour before you have to get started with work. Take a shower, put on regular clothes, and eat a good breakfast.
• Create a workspace. You do not have to have a home office in your house to create a functional workspace. Select a designated area in your home (kitchen bar, living room, patio) and designate it solely for work. Place all your work materials together, have your laptop/pens/ papers/ work documents etc. neatly organized and get to work!
• Take short breaks just as you would at the office. Have some snacks ready throughout the day, take short walks outside, and prepare a delicious lunch.
• Most importantly, set yourself goals expectations. Use your calendar and agenda to keep up with deadlines, goals, and outcomes.

STAY POSITIVE

These stressful times have many unknowns, and it is vital to stay positive as best as we can. If you are feeling isolated or down, reach out to family, friends, or coworkers. We are all in this together and can depend on one another to get through this TOGETHER. There is so much to be grateful for, and so much we can accomplish if we communicate, focus, and stay positive!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

At DRB Capital we believe Valentine’s Day is a very special day to not only purchase gifts for our loved ones but also to spread the love to those in need.

That’s why we decided to head down to Boca Helping Hands to give away some special gifts. Boca Helping Hands is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing food, medical assistance, financial assistance, education, job training and guidance to people in need. Their vision is to help people gain independence in all aspects of their lives.

Our DRB team members prepared vases with roses and candy bags to hand out during the Boca Helping Hands lunch hour. This gesture was welcomed with big smiles and excitement by everyone. We were extremely touched by their reactions and look forward to helping again in the near future.

Holiday Season of Giving

We work hard year-round at DRB Capital, and look forward to celebrating the holidays.  It was truly an action-packed end to 2019 that gives us energy for 2020!  We are so proud of our teammates who, for Toys For Tots, once again this year came forward to donate a large selection of toys to help kids have a special holiday.  We also pulled together and donated hundreds of pounds of non-perishable food to Boca Helping Hands to help them give to families in need during the holidays.  DRB cares about our community and we are honored to be in a position to give back.

To celebrate and enjoy the Holiday season we brought together 3 teams to each bring home made holiday food, cakes and cookies with creative table designs.  Each team brought enough food to feed the entire office one day of a special week in December.  One team created a fireplace from scratch and had cakes and cookies as well as some homemade hot bacon wraps.  Another creative group created two tables, Naughty and Nice, where they presented elf-themed baked goods and home-made cakes and then gathered the entire team to sing the Holiday classic Jingle Bells.  The 3^rd group had a fun game theme and custom homemade cakes and sweets to match their theme.  Our company party featured the ugliest sweaters you’ve ever seen, incredible gifts (like a big screen TV) from the company to our team, and even Santa and his helper made an appearance this year 😊.

Team DRB would like to wish everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Between all the preparation and cooking that goes on for this big day, it is easy for us to lose sight of what this holiday is truly about. Thanksgiving Day is a great time to remind one another of the numerous reasons to be grateful and count our blessings.

As you may know by now, here at DRB Capital, we love to go all out for the holidays and Thanksgiving was no exception.

This year for Turkey Day, team members got to enjoy delicious food, bask in the beautiful Thanksgiving décor and even dance to a Thanksgiving song. The tasty lunch team members got to enjoy included; turkey, ham, macaroni & cheese, various vegetables, mashed potatoes and candied yams. For dessert generous team members brought in an assortment of sweets such as; pies, cookies, pastries, brownies and much more.

What a delight and fun time!

Although our palates were immensely satisfied, working at DRB Capital brings us more than just great food. We are grateful to work for as company that puts others first and gives people a reason to smile every single day. Not only do we help people everyday but we also give back to the community as much as we can.

At DRB Capital, one of our main priorities is to help our community in any way we can.

After learning that there are currently more than 37 million people who are struggling with hunger in the United States, we made it our mission to make a difference. We searched all over South Florida for the perfect community-based organization that not only shares our desire to help others meet basic human needs but also is as passionate as we are about this important cause.

After conducting much research, we decided to partner up with Boca Helping Hands to help us achieve our goal. Boca Helping Hands is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to providing food, medical assistance, financial assistance, education, job training and guidance to people in need. Their vision is to help people gain independence in all aspects of their lives.

Our team members were challenged to organize a food drive and given a month to gather as many non-perishable items as they could. It was a huge success! We were able to fill over 10 cardboard boxes filled with items such as canned fruits & vegetables, pasta, canned meats, rice and cookies. The participation and eagerness to help our team members demonstrated was overwhelming and a beautiful sight to see.

Boca Helping Hands came to us with a huge truck that we were able to fill up with our donation. The organization was excited and extremely grateful with our donation. Nothing in this world can compare to knowing our teamwork and dedication to a cause really will make a difference in someone’s life.

At DRB Capital, we always seek new ways to give back to our community and help those in need.  We recently learned that at homeless shelters new clothing is in extremely high demand, and while many people donate clothing – 9 out of every 10 people who have given clothing have NEVER donated a pair of socks. 

So, with the holidays right around the corner and Winter approaching rapidly, we thought “what better way to help others keep warm than by donating two GIANT boxes of socks?”  

The idea took off, and we partnered up with Habitat of Humanity, a nonprofit organization that unites people to build and repair homes and neighborhoods.  Their excitement and appreciation of our efforts filled our hearts with pure joy.
